Tasmanian Lavender - Essential oil of Lavandula angustifolia (Bridestowe):
description & uses

Considered by many the best Lavender essential oil, and similar in scent, characteristics and properties to the true (and extremely rare) High Altitude French lavender, Tasmanian lavender comes from a line of Lavandula angustifolia that has been selected and perfected by the growers (Bridestowe Lavender Estate) for nearly 100 years.
This essential oil should not be confused with Australian lavender, which may come from selected Lavandula species, such as L. intermedia (Lavandin) or L. allardii, or can be made up from several blended lavender oils.

Place of origin
Tasmania (Bridestowe Lavender Farms)
Production method
Steam distillation from the flowering tops of Lavandula angustifolia (Bridestowe).
Main components
Tasmanian Lavender gives an unusually complex essential oil. A typical analysis by gc/ms shows the following components: a-pinene, camphene, b-pinene, myrcene, d-3-carene, limonene, cis-ocimene, 3-octanone, trans-ocimene, 1-octen-3-ol, 3-octanol, terpinolene, linalol oxides, 1-octen-3-yl acetate, linalol, hexyl isobutyrate, galbanolene, camphor, terpinen-4-ol, lavandulol, borneol, a-terpineol, linalyl acetate, nerol, bornyl acetate, lavandulyl acetate, geraniol, a-santolene, neryl acetate, b-caryophyllene, geranyl acetate, trans-bfarnescene, germacrene d, b-bisabolene, g-cadinene, caryophyllene oxide, cadinene and others.
