Australian Eucalyptus - Essential oil of Eucalyptus radiata: description & uses
Generally regarded as the finest of the therapeutic cineole-type Eucalyptus oils, Australian Eucalyptus radiata (also known as narrow-leaved peppermint gum, eucalyptus peppermint and Eucalyptus australiana) is characterised by a crisp, clean cineole aroma lifted by citrus/floral backnotes.
Please note: this essential oil has a low flash point and is therefore classified as DG.
- Place of origin
- Australia
- Production method
- Steam distillation from the leaves of Eucalyptus radiata, a commercially grown tree.
- Main components
- 1,8-cineole (approx. 75%)
- Aroma
- Camphorous scent with a sweet woody undertone and citrus/floral backnotes.
- Main uses
- Aromatherapy, cosmetics.
- Comments
- Its 1,8-cineole content is high enough for the best therapeutic effects, and yet low enough to make Eucalyptus radiata the gentlest, and the only type of eucalyptus oil that can be safely used in cosmetics and aromatherapy applications for kids.
- Safety notes
- Safe in terms of toxicity, skin irritancy.
For full details, refer to MSDS, GC and Physicochemical Data reports from supplier/distiller..
